Hello Rachel Deboer here, theater coordinator for 3 years in a row for the Source Festival on beautiful Maui!

Welcome to the very first page of Perform at Source!

A few talking and resume points:

I have been involved in the performing arts for over 25 years with a B.A. in Theater Performance from U.S.F. in Florida many a year ago. I have been expressing my self in various ways all over Maui for the last 8 years now involving full blown professional theater productions, photo shoots, corporate theme parties, and the melding of body painting and performance into visual delights to the eye.

For the last 3 years I’ve been responsible for the scheduling of all theatrical performance art at Source as well as inspiring theater indoors and outdoors, leading parades, and creating sacred space for audience to become participants. For the last 2 years I have been training body painters and dancers to create spectacular body painted dance shows for Source beginning with last year’s  Body Alive Maui at Source 2009 ” The Great Expression”.

This 3rd year again I will tackle the odd and adrenline junky creature known as the “performing artist” and create the space and time for them to work their magic on us. This blog is my first attempt to round up you wily creatures and get ya to commit to a time and place to perform your wonderful great expressions at Source as well as to inform the general public about the vibrant and unique performance art culture going on in Maui.

Anything from sketch comedy, to abstract dance pieces, fire shows, poetry slams, strolling characters, and multi-media events utilizing real live peeps (such as talent shows) is something I need to schedule and know about it so you the performer can have the best chance to have a receptive audience for your offering and so the audience knows where and when everything is happening.  Theater is not just indoors on a stage.  Performance can be anywhere or anytime.  If you have an idea for an organized theaterical happening.. please let me know so I can help make it happen.

We have a variety of performances choices for you this year ranging from indoor talent shows, to getting involved with The Birth of Tiki body paint show being performed on the Saturday night of the festival, to outdoor performance areas, and parades.

More details on each of these offerings and opportunities will ensue in the following pages of this blog. Read on for further details.
